Georgia Hunter Bell, 32, suffered a shock defeat in the 1500m final at the Maurie Plant Meet in Melbourne, her first race since claiming the women's world indoor championship in Poland. Bell, a veteran of Great Britain's athletics scene, failed to execute her signature finishing kick as Claudia Hollingsworth, 20, surged 200m from the line to win in 4:01.30, edging out Bell by 0.22 seconds. Hollingsworth praised the competition, stating, "It was amazing being in a race with this level of girls and beating Georgia."
