George North will bid farewell to professional rugby this Saturday when he lines up for the Barbarians against his former nation Wales at Twickenham. The 34-year-old, who announced his retirement in April, described the invitation as an 'amazing opportunity' for one final appearance in the black and white jersey.

North earned 121 caps and scored 47 tries for Wales across 14 years, helping secure four Six Nations titles and two Grand Slams. His previous Wales farewell in Cardiff two years ago ended abruptly when he ruptured his Achilles tendon against Italy, ruling him out for nearly 10 months and delaying his move to Provence.

The former wing-turned-centre has been overwhelmed by messages since announcing his retirement, calling it 'such an honour and privilege' to represent Wales. He hopes to secure small Barbarians jerseys for his sons Jac and Tomi, who initially struggled to understand daddy was playing against Wales rather than for them.

North deserves this proper send-off after a stellar career that included two tries on his Wales debut as an 18-year-old in 2010 and three Tests with the British and Irish Lions. He wants to be remembered as someone who gave his all and loved every second of representing his country.
