British ice dancers Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson are in contention for Great Britain's first European gold medal since 1994. After a flawless rhythm dance performance to a Spice Girls medley in Sheffield, they sit second with a season-best 85.47 points, just 1.5 behind French leaders Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron.

Their 'Disco Brits' style, featuring a sparkling Union Jack dress for Fear, electrified the home crowd. This marks a potential breakthrough for a nation that has not won a European event since Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean's ice dance victory 32 years ago. Fear and Gibson have been on the podium at the last three Europeans.

The free dance, where medals are decided, offers full creative freedom. The pair plans a Scottish-themed medley with tartan costumes, honoring Gibson's roots. Meanwhile, young teammates Phebe Bekker and James Hernandez also qualified for the final, scoring 11th in their international debut.
