England named its netball squad for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games on Tuesday, confirming veteran wing attack Nat Metcald and 21‑year‑old defender Jayda Pechova among the 12 Roses. Fran Williams will captain, while London Pulse sharpshooter Liv Tchine and Thunder’s Amy Carter take vice‑captain roles. Four Thunder players join the roster, underscoring the club’s recent Super League triumph.

Metcald returns for her third Games, 14 months after giving birth and after helping Thunder win the Super League. She is the sole member of the 2018 gold‑medal side still in the mix. Helen Housby missed selection with a back injury, while captain Williams balances duties with West Coast Fever in Australia. Coach Anna Stembridge praised the blend of experience and youth.

England head into Pool A with world‑number‑ones Australia, South Africa, Malawi, Tonga and Northern Ireland, opening on 25 July. Ranked third globally, the Roses hope to improve on a 2023 World Cup silver while recovering from test‑series defeats to New Zealand and South Africa. Stembridge believes the squad’s depth will be decisive as the team seeks another Commonwealth gold this time.
