Teenage Para-swimmer Ela Letton-Jones has won the first Team Wales medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, securing a silver in the women's S13 100m freestyle. The 19-year-old finished second with a time of 1:04.30, just behind Australia's Jenna Jones, who clocked 1:03.89.

Letton-Jones, who had qualified second fastest, spoke of her ability to handle the pressure of being Wales' initial medal hope. "I knew that coming in so I am just glad I was able to deliver and hopefully give Team Wales some momentum to win more medals," she stated. She added that she swims better when happy and that the "noisy" crowd, which she had never experienced before, carried her and provided adrenaline.

She also expressed gratitude for the support of her family, including her Mum, Dad, and Nanny, stating she could not have achieved the silver medal without them.
