Cooper Flagg scored 45 points to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 134-128 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, continuing his historic rookie season.

Flagg, the 19-year-old sensation who became the first teenager to score 50 points in an NBA game just days earlier, added nine assists and eight rebounds in the win. His 45-point effort marked the first back-to-back 40-point games by a rookie since Allen Iverson in 1997, making him a strong contender for rookie of the year honors.

The Mavericks started quickly against the Lakers, who were severely depleted by injuries, trailing 41-30 after the first quarter. While Luka Doncic (out) and Austin Reaves (out) were missing, LeBron James led the Lakers with 30 points, 15 assists, and nine rebounds. PJ Washington contributed 15 points for Dallas, while Klay Thompson hit three three-pointers in his 11-point game. Lakers coach JJ Redick conceded it was a "just a poor defensive night" for his team.

The Mavericks, already eliminated from playoff contention, remain in 12th place in the Western Conference, while the Lakers hold third position. Flagg's performances continue to dominate the league narrative, solidifying his status as one of the most exciting young talents in basketball.
