Caroline Dubois Opens Up About Family Rift with Brother Daniel

Caroline Dubois has revealed the painful family rift that led her to leave home two years ago, walking away from her father's strict boxing regime. The WBC lightweight champion, sister to former heavyweight world champion Daniel Dubois, says she hopes to reconcile with her brother but has no contact with their father, Stan Dubois. The split has kept Caroline from watching Daniel's fights in person since 2022.

Dubois, now 25, describes the situation as 'so complex' and credits her sanctuary at Shane McGuigan's gym for helping her navigate the emotional turmoil. McGuigan, who lost his own sister to cancer in 2019, advised Caroline to use boxing as guidance during difficult times. The champion has found independence and confidence, developing what McGuigan calls an 'alter ego' that contrasts with her brother's reserved nature.

As she prepares to unify lightweight titles against Terri Harper this Sunday, Dubois remains focused on her boxing career while acknowledging the family dynamic that shaped her journey. The WBC champion, who once pretended to be a boy named Colin to box, has carved her own path separate from her brother's shadow. Despite the rift, she maintains that family remains central to her story, even as she builds her own community outside the Dubois household.
