Arnold Palmer Invitational champion Akshay Bhatia defeated Daniel Berger in a dramatic sudden-death playoff at Bay Hill. After four birdies on the back nine and an eagle on the 16th, Bhatia shot a 69 to tie Berger at 15-under. The 24-year-old secured his first PGA Tour title since his 2024 Texas Open win by sinking a critical par on the 18th hole when Berger missed a 7-foot putt.

Berger, who led by five shots after the second round, faltered on the final day. His 70 put him one shot behind Bhatia, but the 57-foot putt on the 11th and eagle on the par-five 16th proved decisive. "It's cool to succeed on such a demanding course," Bhatia said, highlighting Bay Hill's reputation as a test.

Berger acknowledged the loss but praised his chances: "A chance on the 18th would've been ecstatic." Third place went to Cameron Young and Ludvig Aberg at 12-under, while world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler finished at 2-under in a tie for 23rd. Rory McIlroy withdrew with back spasms before the third round, leaving Northern Ireland's best-ranked player absent.

The win solidifies Bhatia's rise as a contender, while Berger's near-victory underscores his experience. Bay Hill's challenges and dramatic finishes continue to define the tournament's legacy.
