Britain's Beth Potter claimed her third podium of the season with a second-place finish in the World Triathlon Series event in Alghero, Sardinia. The 2024 Olympic bronze medalist crossed the line in 1:53.49, four seconds behind France's Cassandre Beaugrand, who secured her third consecutive victory on the Italian island. Germany's Lisa Tertsch rounded out the podium, finishing five seconds behind Potter.

In contrast, Olympic champion Alex Yee's return to triathlon ended abruptly. The 28-year-old, who placed fifth in Yokohama two weeks ago after a year focused on marathon running, struggled in the Sardinian heat. He started the run nearly 90 seconds behind the leaders and eventually retired after just one lap of the 2.5km course.

Portugal's Vasco Vilaca dominated the men's race, claiming his second win of the season in 1:45.16. Brazil's Miguel Hidalgo finished second in 1:45.35, with Vilaca's compatriot Ricardo Batista completing the podium in 1:45.45. Georgia Taylor-Brown, fresh off her first T100 victory, placed sixth after dropping back early in the run.

Potter's consistent start to the season positions her well for the Los Angeles Olympics qualification window, though she acknowledged lacking the final kick to challenge Beaugrand. Her podium finish demonstrates strong form heading into crucial qualification races.
