Benn calls Garcia boxing liability

Conor Benn views Ryan Garcia as "good for boxing" but acknowledges the American is a "liability." Benn prepares for this weekend's fight after leaving lifelong promoter Matchroom for Zuffa Boxing, backed by UFC's Dana White and Saudi Arabian capital. The Briton expressed admiration for Garcia's unpredictable nature despite personal dislike.

Zuffa Boxing aims to sideline traditional sanctioning bodies like the WBC, WBO, IBF and WBA, establishing its belt as the premier world title alongside The Ring Magazine championship. Benn remains committed to winning a world title like his father Nigel did in the 1990s, with potential opponents including Rolando Romero, Lewis Crocker and Devin Haney.

Despite other options, Garcia remains Benn's number one target. "You don't know if he's going to make the fight or not, have some sort of episode," Benn said. "People don't want to be themselves in boxing, so I love when I see a young man under fire for being who he is." Benn values Garcia's authenticity in the sport.
