Barry-Murphy urges Cardiff to be more ruthless

Brian Barry-Murphy says Cardiff City must be more ruthless, while remaining calm about their winless return to the Championship.

The Bluebirds have not won since promotion, with their 1-1 draw against Stoke City making it four draws and two defeats from six games. They looked set for the bottom after conceding against the Potters, before Joel Colwill equalised.

Despite 27 attempts on goal and 70% possession, Cardiff could not score twice. Barry-Murphy said his side have had to come from behind in three matches and need greater sharpness.

“It’s very early days and we have to remain calm,” he said. “We just have to keep improving and the goals will come if we keep getting in the same situations and just be a bit more ruthless.”

Barry-Murphy was encouraged by improved performances after defeats at QPR and Portsmouth, though injuries remain an issue. He expects the team to strengthen as the season progresses and believes they can have a great season.
