Great Britain's Charlotte Bankes has been eliminated in the quarter-finals of the women's snowboard cross at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. The reigning world champion entered the Games as one of Britain's strongest medal hopes in snowboarding.

Bankes, who won the 2021 FIS Snowboard World Championships, faced tough competition in the elimination rounds. The snowboard cross event features multiple riders racing simultaneously down a course with jumps, rollers and banked turns, making it one of the most unpredictable Olympic disciplines.

Her early exit is a significant setback for Team GB's medal aspirations in these Games. Bankes had been training specifically for these Olympics after missing out on a medal in Beijing 2022. The 28-year-old from Hemel Hempstead has been a consistent performer on the World Cup circuit and was considered a podium contender.
