Audi has officially entered Formula 1, taking over the Sauber team for the 2026 season. The German manufacturer launched its new F1 project at a lavish Berlin event, setting a bold target to become "the most successful team in Formula 1 history." Team principal Jonathan Wheatley called the launch a "historic moment" for the brand.

Chief executive Gernot Dollner stated Audi joins racing series to win and innovate, aiming to compete for championships by 2030. Mattia Binotto, head of the Audi F1 project, acknowledged the long journey ahead but emphasized readiness for challenges. The team unveiled a show car in Berlin, distinct from the car recently tested at Barcelona.

Audi will participate in pre-season testing at a private Barcelona session next week. While the show car was displayed, the actual design remains under wraps as the team prepares for its competitive debut. The project slogan "To start something, stop at nothing" reflects a determined mindset for the coming seasons.
