Aspinall Sets September Paris Date for Gane Undisputed Title Fight

UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall confirmed he'll face Ciryl Gane for the undisputed title in Paris this September. The Briton accepted the bout while recovering from an eye injury that required February surgery, stating simply: "Paris in September? I'll do that. I'll go to Paris. Let me know. I'll be there."

Their previous October encounter ended as a no contest after repeated eye pokes from Gane left Aspinall unable to continue. Back in non-contact training since May, Aspinall previously labeled Gane a "cheater" following that controversial finish. The rivalry now moves toward a definitive conclusion in Gane's home country.

Gane captured the interim heavyweight belt at UFC Freedom 250, defeating Alex Pereira via second-round stoppage. However, the victory came with controversy as Gane appeared to land illegal elbows to the back of Pereira's head - a move Aspinall criticized post-fight. Referee Herb Dean did not penalize the infraction.

The September showdown in Paris presents an opportunity for both fighters to settle their score definitively. For Aspinall, it's a chance to reclaim his title without controversy. For Gane, it's validation of his interim championship reign.
