Organizers of the Asian Games in Japan have informed athletes they must arrange their own accommodation after exceeding the planned capacity of 15,000 participants. The Olympic Council of Asia recently confirmed attendance will reach approximately 17,000 following the late inclusion of teqball and padel. Nagoya Mayor Ichiro Hirosawa, acting chairman of the local organising committee, stated it is "difficult to accommodate this number" due to a tight budget. Hideaki Omura, president of the organising committee and Governor of Aichi Prefecture, confirmed hosts have "neither the manpower nor the budget" for additional arrangements, noting the host city agreement specifies 15,000 delegates.

Unlike the Olympics, there is no designated athletes' village. Instead, 4,000 and 5,000 athletes will stay on the Italian cruise ship Costa Serena, while 2,000 will use shipping container-style huts. The remainder will stay in hotels in Tokyo, where swimming, diving, and equestrian events are scheduled. The Games run from 19 September to 4 October in the Nagoya and Aichi region.
