Russian figure skating legend Artur Dmitriev, a two-time Olympic pairs champion, has died at age 58. The Russian Figure Skating Federation confirmed his passing, noting his historic achievement as the first skater to win Olympic gold with two different partners. Dmitriev's groundbreaking career peaked at the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, where he won gold with Natalia Mishkutionok representing the Unified Team. Four years later at 1998 Nagano, he captured his second Olympic title alongside Oksana Kazakova, becoming the first figure skater to accomplish this rare feat in Olympic pairs competition.

Born in Ukraine but raised in Russia's Arctic city of Norilsk, Dmitriev transitioned to coaching after competing, working in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
