Ella Toone has been added to the England squad for the Women's World Cup play-offs against Greece after being initially omitted. Manchester United midfielder Toone, who has scored 24 goals in 69 senior appearances, was called up following criticism from manager Sarina Wiegman about recent performances. Toone expressed disappointment at her initial exclusion, calling it a difficult week.
Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Lucy Bronze has withdrawn from the squad due to a minor injury sustained in a recent league match against West Ham. England arrived in Crete to prepare for the first leg of the play-off at Pankritio Stadium in Heraklion on Friday. The second leg will be held at Leicester City's King Power Stadium on 13 October.
The winner of this tie will face either Slovakia or Ukraine in a two-legged play-off in November and December to determine who advances to the 2026 Women's World Cup in Brazil, scheduled from 24 June to 25 July.
