Alice Kinsella has etched her name into British sporting history by becoming the first artistic gymnast to resume elite competition following childbirth. The 27-year-old, a bronze medallist from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, achieved this milestone by competing in the British Championships final on Saturday. Kinsella's return is exceptionally rare in gymnastics due to the sport's intense demands on pelvic floor and core strength, which are significantly weakened after pregnancy. While many elite athletes have successfully returned to their sports post-birth, gymnastics presents unique challenges.

Kinsella, motivated by her young son, expressed profound emotion standing on the podium, stating, 'It's amazing to look up and see him in the crowd.' She acknowledged the difficulty, noting her initial nerves but later feeling 'excited' and 'starting somewhere' with her training load gradually increasing to four days a week.
