Great Britain became World Team Cup champions for the fifth time as Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid secured a 2-1 victory over Japan in Florida. The wheelchair tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup saw Hewett and Reid win the deciding doubles match 6-1 6-2 against Tokito Oda and Daisuke Arai. Reid, who previously won the title in 2015, 2019, 2023, and 2024, expressed his happiness at reclaiming the trophy.

Hewett noted it was their first time needing the deciding doubles to clinch the win, praising the team spirit. Reid started strong with a 6-2 6-2 win over Arai, while Hewett lost his singles match 6-4 7-5 to Oda after a delay due to extreme heat. Despite the loss, Hewett bounced back in doubles.

The team, including 21-year-old Ben Bartram and captain Martyn Whait, had earlier defeated South Korea and the Netherlands.
