Olympic triathlon gold medalist Alex Yee returns to the Diamond League circuit for the first time in seven years, competing in the 5,000m at the Monaco event on Friday. This marks a significant shift after Yee's recent foray into marathon running, including a debut in London and a strong performance in Valencia. He sees these varied challenges as a way to unlock new levels of performance ahead of future Olympic Games.

Yee, 28, last raced in a Diamond League 5,000m in 2019, holding a personal best of 13 minutes 13.89 seconds. He will face a formidable field in Monaco, including Addisu Yihune, Birhanu Balew, Isaac Kimeli, and Jimmy Gressier. Yee expressed his excitement for new challenges and believes these experiences, like the marathons, are crucial for rapid learning and improvement.
