Wolves have secured a verbal agreement with former England right‑back Kieran Trippier, who will join Molineux on a free transfer after his Newcastle contract expires. He is set to sign a two‑year deal with an optional third year, becoming manager Rob Edwards’ first summer acquisition. The 35‑year‑old brings Premier League experience and leadership to a squad desperate for stability.

Trippier leaves Newcastle after 4½ seasons, 160 appearances and four goals, and a 2025 Carabao Cup triumph – the Magpies’ first trophy since 1955. His résumé includes a La Liga title with Atletico Madrid (2020‑21) and a Champions League runner‑up finish with Tottenham in 2019. Internationally he earned 54 caps, scored in the 2018 World Cup final and started the Euro 2020 final before retiring in 2024.

Wolves finished bottom of the Premier League, winning just three matches in their eight‑year top‑flight spell, and now face a squad overhaul. Homegrown talent remains priority, limiting spots for non‑homegrown players until further exits. With goalkeeper Jose Sa, forward Hwang Hee‑chan and midfielder Ladislav Krejci likely to depart, Trippier’s experience offers immediate defensive reliability for the side.
