Wales winger Wes Burns says Craig Bellamy's consistent support during his recovery from a career-threatening knee injury was crucial. Burns suffered a torn ACL during Ipswich Town's match against Liverpool in January 2025, sidelining him for nearly a year.

The 31-year-old, who returned to the national squad after two years away, praised Bellamy for calling him regularly to check on his progress. "When someone of Craig Bellamy's stature, the head coach of Wales, is calling me every month, or once every two weeks, to make sure I'm doing well... it's a massive, massive plus," Burns said.

Burns, who dropped two divisions to join Leicester City instead of staying in the Premier League with Ipswich, hopes to feature in Wales' upcoming Nations League matches against Denmark in Copenhagen. Despite Leicester's slow start in League One, Burns remains optimistic about recreating his previous promotion success with the club.
