Valencia have sacked head coach Carlos Corberan and football chief executive Ron Gourlay after a winless start to the La Liga season. The club sits bottom of the league with just one point from five matches, including a 5-0 defeat to Barcelona last week. Corberan, 43, was appointed in December 2024 after previously managing West Bromwich Albion in the Championship.

His first season saw Valencia finish 12th, but the current campaign has prompted a swift change. Valencia B coach Oscar Sanchez will take over as interim head coach. Gourlay, a former Chelsea chief executive who also worked at West Bromwich Albion, joined Valencia in December 2024 and will depart alongside his support staff: Lisandro Isei, Hans Gillhaus, Andres Zamora, and Malek Shafei.

The club stated the decision reflects its intention to begin a new phase in football operations. Valencia will announce the new structure for its sporting project shortly. Corberan will become the club's 18th permanent head coach since 2012.

Valencia's next fixture is against Deportivo Alaves on Tuesday.
