Tyler Morton's Revival at Lyon After Liverpool Exit

Tyler Morton has found new life at Lyon after a challenging final season at Liverpool left him searching for playing time and purpose. The 23-year-old midfielder, who joined the French club for 10m euros (£8.7m) last summer, has settled seamlessly into a central role under manager Paulo Fonseca, operating as a deep-lying playmaker.

Morton's move to Lyon came after promising loan spells at Blackburn and Hull failed to secure him regular minutes at Anfield under new manager Arne Slot. The England Under-21 international helped Lyon embark on a 13-game winning streak between December and February, contributing to their rise to third in Ligue 1. His adaptation hasn't been limited to the pitch - Morton admits he's still adjusting to French cuisine while embracing his new challenge.

With Lyon competing for Champions League qualification, Morton sees this as an opportunity to showcase his development. The former Liverpool academy graduate, who made his breakthrough under Jurgen Klopp in 2021-22, now aims to return to Europe's elite competition five years after featuring for Liverpool against Porto and AC Milan. "They've given me this opportunity so I'll give everything for the club and fight until the end," Morton says, having rediscovered his passion for football in France.
