BBC Sport is launching a fan vote to determine Scotland's greatest men's goal of all time. The initiative comes as the national team prepares for the World Cup, sparking debate about iconic moments in Scottish football history.

James McFadden's long-range stunner against France in 2007 tops many lists, while Archie Gemmill's mesmerizing dribble through the Dutch defense in 1978 remains legendary. Recent years have produced new contenders, including Scott McTominay's overhead kick against Denmark, Kieran Tierney's curling effort, and Kenny McLean's lob from the halfway line in November.

The list of candidates spans decades of Scottish football. Leigh Griffiths' free-kicks against England in 2017, Kenny Dalglish's screamers against Spain and Belgium, Charlie Nicholas against Switzerland, and Dave Narey's famous 'toe poke' against Brazil in 1982 all vie for the top spot. The BBC plans to compile a top 16 from fan nominations and conduct a tournament-style elimination across their platforms.
