Rotherham United have dismissed manager Matt Hamshaw following a crushing 5-0 home defeat by Peterborough United. The 44-year-old, who previously served as a coach under former boss Paul Warne, was appointed as caretaker after Steve Evans' sacking in 2025 before taking the permanent role last April. Rotherham now sit 22nd in League One with only nine games remaining, six points adrift of safety. The club stated the decision was necessary to give the team the best chance of preserving their league status. Dale Tonge, Richard Wood, and Andy Warrington will oversee first-team affairs on an interim basis. Rotherham's season has unravelled dramatically since their relegation battle began in earnest.
