Swansea City has signed free agent Ross Stewart, a Scotland striker, following his departure from Southampton. Stewart has agreed to a three-year deal with the Swans.

His arrival at the Swansea.com Stadium may raise questions about the future of Slovenia international Zan Vipotnik, who finished last season as the Championship's top scorer. Stewart, who has scored goals at Championship level for both Southampton and Sunderland, is described by Swans' head coach Vitor Matos as "an experienced and proven performer" who "relishes responsibility."

Stewart scored 11 goals in 33 games for Southampton last season, overcoming injury issues that had limited his appearances in previous campaigns. He has also represented Scotland four times. Stewart becomes Swansea's sixth permanent signing this summer, joining other new recruits as the club looks to strengthen its forward options alongside Vipotnik and Adam Idah.
