Rayo Vallecano has been barred indefinitely from playing at Estadio de Vallecas due to a risk of Legionnaires' disease and other safety issues. An audit revealed serious health and safety problems, including a buildup of refuse, debris and electrical faults that could trigger outbreaks or fires. No alternative venue has been confirmed.

Madrid’s regional head of sport, Mariano De Paco, said the club had failed to comply with requests for maintenance and water‑quality certification. He announced urgent work would begin immediately and could take between two and six months to complete. The club’s president, Raul Martin Presa, remains uncontactable, and fans have long criticised the poor upkeep of facilities.

Last season, Rayo’s players described the pitch as “unplayable sna and noted a lack of hot water in showers. Despite these problems, the club reached the UEFA Conference League final, losing 1‑0 to Crystal Palace. The regional government has proposed a two‑year renovation plan that would include a new stand to increase capacity to 18,500.

Rayo’s season‑ticket renewal campaign recently added a 15% price increase for adults and includes a clause that, if matches cannot be played at Vallecas, ticket holders will be offered seats in a “most similar location” at an alternative venue. The club’s first home game of the season is against Alaves on Thursday, 20 August.
