Pochettino Saddened by Tottenham's Relegation Battle

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted it is "really sad" to see Tottenham suffering as they battle Premier League relegation. The former Spurs manager, now preparing to lead co-hosts USA at this summer's World Cup, said he knows "how the people are suffering there, inside the club and also the fans." He described the situation as "difficult to accept" during an interview.

Tottenham's win over relegated Wolves on Saturday was their first league victory this year. They travel to fifth-placed Aston Villa on Sunday hoping to build on that result. The north London club find themselves in an unexpected fight against relegation, a stark contrast to the Champions League challenges they faced under Pochettino during his five-year spell.

They will be without midfielder Xavi Simons for the rest of the season after he suffered a knee injury against Wolves. Striker Dominic Solanke also went off injured in the same match. Pochettino, who left Tottenham before joining PSG and then Chelsea, has often been linked with a return to north London. "One day, yes, because I really like England," he said when asked about the possibility.
