Peterborough United have appointed former Wales international Robbie Savage as their new manager on a long-term contract. Savage, who previously managed Forest Green Rovers, said he was attracted to the club's size, philosophy, and focus on developing young players. He emphasized his hands-on approach, stating he will attend every training session while trusting coaches to deliver messages.
Savage rejected a passive style, insisting his teams will attack and go for winners, even late in games. He acknowledged modern football's challenges, including social media scrutiny, but affirmed his commitment to protecting players and restoring confidence. Caretaker boss Ryan Harley will serve as his assistant.
Chairman Darragh Mac Anthony praised Savage's personality, character, and hunger to fix the club's issues, saying the board was impressed by his interview and determination to revive the talented squad. Mac Anthony said excitement is the right word for the appointment, noting it's been too long since he last used it to describe the club.
