New Hibernian manager Marink Reedijk says he was convinced Easter Road was the right move for him after a seven-hour meeting with the club's board in London. The 35-year-old will take charge of Hibs for the first time on Saturday when they travel to Tannadice to face Dundee United, having spent the past two weeks getting to know his new surroundings.

Reedijk joined the squad for their warm weather training camp in Spain and described his introduction to the club as "very intense." "A lot to do, a lot to discover but it was really good," said the Dutchman. "We got the ideas across properly, we got to know the players, got to know the staff, got to know the club a bit better by the day."

The talks began with a Zoom call, followed by the London meeting. "Very good conversations and very intense conversations about everything really, about my way of playing football, about the club itself, how we see management," he said. He also pointed to the supportive fans as a reason for joining, adding that the club feels like a family.

Hibs sit 10th in the Premiership table, and Reedijk is clear about his goal. "Win as many matches as possible for me," he said. "I don't like to not win." He believes creating a strong collective identity will be just as important as results. Reedijk arrives after leaving Belgian side Beveren, whom he guided to promotion last season. He believes Scottish football offers plenty of opportunity, describing the league as "not an easy league to play in" where "everybody can win from everybody."
