St Mirren manager Craig McLeish has appointed Marcus Fraser as the club's new captain, citing the defender's standard-setting influence as the primary reason. Fraser, who joined the Buddies in 2020 after spells at Celtic's youth academy and Ross County, expressed his excitement about the role.

Fraser scored the vital goal in St Mirren's Scottish Premiership play-off final victory against Partick Thistle last season, securing the club's top-flight status. He has been actively involved in pre-season discussions with the management team, indicating a strong connection with the coaching staff.

McLeish also reflected on the departure of Mark O'Hara, acknowledging his significant contribution to the team and wishing him well in his new chapter. O'Hara reportedly felt it was time for a fresh start.
