Marc Guehi Cup-Tied for Carabao Cup Final vs Arsenal

Manchester City defender Marc Guehi will miss Sunday's Carabao Cup final against Arsenal after being declared cup-tied by EFL regulations. The 25-year-old centre-back made three appearances for Crystal Palace earlier in the competition before joining City in January.

The new EFL rules, implemented before the 2025-26 season, require players to be registered before the semi-final stage to be eligible for the final. Guehi was signed after City's first-leg victory over Newcastle, making him ineligible despite Pep Guardiola's belief that "pure logic" should allow his participation.

Antoine Semenyo avoided the same fate after joining City from Bournemouth in time for the semi-final first leg, where he scored in the 2-0 win at St James' Park. The decision leaves City without a key defensive option for their Wembley showdown with Arsenal.
