Man Utd Nearing Free Transfer for Goalkeeper Karl Darlow

Manchester United is reportedly nearing an agreement to sign goalkeeper Karl Darlow on a free transfer. The 35-year-old Welsh international departed Leeds United after the conclusion of his contract in June. Darlow established himself as Leeds' primary goalkeeper last season, featuring in 22 Premier League matches.

His arrival is expected to facilitate the departure of Altay Bayindir, who served as the backup keeper for most of last season. With Radek Vitek also likely to move on, either permanently or on loan after his spell at Bristol City, United manager Michael Carrick sought additional depth. This is particularly important as veteran Tom Heaton has not featured since February 2023.

If the transfer is finalized, Darlow will join the squad for their pre-season preparations, which commence with a match against Wrexham in Helsinki on July 18. The signing addresses United's need for experienced backup options in the goalkeeping department.
