Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has revealed he is 'very sad' not to have received a new contract offer from the club. The 27-year-old Argentine joined from Brighton in June 2023 on a five-year deal and has seen teammates Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch extend their contracts this year. Speaking before Liverpool's Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid, Mac Allister said he gives his '100%' every day and hopes to prove his worth.

He admitted he had 'options to leave' this summer but stated he is 'in the right club' and will give his all until the end of his current deal. Mac Allister helped Liverpool win the Premier League in 2024-25 but felt it wasn't a good season for him individually as they finished fifth and sacked manager Arne Slot. New boss Andoni Iraola praised Mac Allister's importance to the squad despite the contract situation.

The former Brighton player made 55 appearances last season and has started the past two games under Iraola, who said there is 'still a lot of time to talk about those contract situations.'.
