Coventry City confirmed that manager Frank Lampard has signed a new deal running to 2029. The 48‑year‑old guided the Sky Blues to the Championship title last season, securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 25 years. His previous contract would have ended after next season, and he rebuffed interest from clubs such as Fulham, and will shape the first top‑flight window.

Lampard arrived in November 2024 with Coventry teetering just above the relegation zone. He steered the side to 16 wins in the remaining 29 fixtures, lifting them to fifth and a play‑off spot, though they fell 3‑2 on aggregate to Sunderland. The following campaign he delivered 28 victories, a club record, and clinched the Championship title, and laid foundations for next‑season ambitions.

Coventry open their Premier League campaign on 21 August against champions Arsenal, a test of Lampard’s squad ahead of a historic return. The manager stressed the need to recharge while sharpening on‑field tactics, noting extensive work off the pitch. With a long‑term contract in place, Lampard now has security to shape the club’s top‑flight future, and cement his legacy at the club.
