Kyle Walker has expressed he is "at ease" with his decision to retire from international football, aiming to prolong his club career much like his former teammate James Milner. The 36-year-old Burnley defender announced his departure from the Three Lions in March after accumulating 96 caps and participating in five major tournaments, including Euro 2021 and 2024 finals, and the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.

Walker stated that his retirement was a "collaborative decision" with his family, acknowledging the sacrifices made during international summers. "It was a difficult decision but one I'm more at ease with now," he said. He also noted that while injuries might have presented an opportunity for him to be recalled, he was not anticipating a call-up given his retirement.

Walker mentioned that with players like Reece James, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Tino Livramento available, his absence allowed him to enjoy family time. He emphasized that he was not leaving England short of options at right-back, with midfielders and central defenders having also deputized in the role. Walker's focus now shifts to his club commitments, inspired by the longevity of players like James Milner.
