Joao Pedro's Rise: Chelsea Striker Compared to Haaland, Mbappe, Kane

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has placed striker Joao Pedro in the same elite category as Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Harry Kane after the Brazilian's impressive form. The 24-year-old scored a hat-trick in Wednesday's 4-1 win over Aston Villa, bringing his season tally to 17 goals across all competitions.

Rosenior's bold comparison stems from Joao Pedro's remarkable efficiency, with none of his 14 Premier League goals this season coming from the penalty spot. Only Haaland, with 19 non-penalty goals, has scored more in England's top flight. Across Europe's top five leagues, Kane leads with 20 non-penalty goals for Bayern Munich, while Mbappe has 15 for Real Madrid.

Despite the praise, statistics show Joao Pedro still trails his elite peers in overall production. Since joining Chelsea, he's scored 33 league goals and provided 14 assists, compared to Kane's 92 goals and 21 assists over the same period. However, his shot-conversion rate of 24.6% actually surpasses Haaland's and Mbappe's, highlighting his clinical finishing. Chelsea now hopes he can become their first striker to reach 20 goals in a season since Diego Costa in 2016-17.
