Isak's First Liverpool Goal: Turning Point?

Alexander Isak finally ended his 236-day wait for a home Premier League goal, scoring in Liverpool's 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace. The £125m striker's looping finish over Dean Henderson marked his first league goal at Anfield and Liverpool's first home league win in a game he started. For a player whose first season has been hampered by injuries, the moment provided a rare moment of joy.

Isak has struggled since his record-breaking move from Newcastle, managing just 1,009 minutes compared to 3,319 last season. A fractured fibula in December limited his impact, with the Swede failing to complete a full 90 minutes in a Liverpool shirt. The goal came from his only attempt in 18 touches before being substituted in the 79th minute.

Manager Arne Slot acknowledged the unusual situation, questioning how a striker of Isak's caliber would take nearly nine months to score at Anfield. With Mohamed Salah departing and Hugo Ekitike sidelined, Liverpool desperately needs Isak to recapture the form that yielded 27 goals for Newcastle last season. Martin Keown believes this goal could provide the foundation for a resurgence.
