Alisson was well beaten for Dan Ndoye's goal but made a superb save to deny Igor Jesus on the brink of half-time. A poor penalty by Alisson gave away Gibbs-White's opener. Jeremie Frimpong struggled defensively but contributed going forward, while Jeremy Jacquet made a goal-saving challenge.

Virgil van Dijk was furious at how easily Forest broke through. Milos Kerkez had a poor display and was replaced by Kostas Tsimikas in the 71st minute. Dominik Szoboszlai was solid defensively, Alexis Mac Allister played a lovely reverse ball for Cody Gakpo, and Gakpo created Alexander Isak's equaliser.

Florian Wirtz posed a constant threat and assisted Victor Munoz's goal. Munoz scored a belter to level the game, and Isak netted his first Liverpool goal just after the hour. Substitutes Tsimikas, Gravenberch, Ngumoha, Araujo, and Nyoni all came on.

Matz Sels was commanding but beaten by Gakpo's cross for Isak's goal and Munoz's strike. Jair Cunha had a strong performance, Nikola Milenkovic was part of a resilient Forest backline, and Murillo drove well but was beaten by Munoz. Ola Aina was relentless, James Mc Atee impressed on his chance, Xaver Schlager did well after replacing Ibrahim Sangare, and Neco Williams won the penalty that put Forest ahead twice.

Dan Ndoye scored a wonderful finish past Alisson.
