Ghana Village Celebrates Villa Victory

A Ghanaian village called Juaben will celebrate Aston Villa's Europa League victory with a parade featuring 30 motorcycles and a minibus. The community erupted in joy when Tielemans, Buendia, and Rogers scored against Freiburg, ending decades of waiting for the club to make history again. This remarkable connection between a small African village and English football spans generations.

The bond stems from Boakye's grandfather Daniel, who stayed with a Villa-supporting family from Birmingham and passed down his love for the club. He frequently told stories about 'God' – actually Paul McGrath, who made 250+ appearances for Villa between 1989-1996. McGrath was part of the squad when Villa won their last trophy, the 1996 League Cup.

During the 1982 European Cup victory, most current Juaben fans were not yet born. "We were waiting for our own history yesterday," Boakye said. The celebration reflects how football creates unexpected global connections, uniting communities across continents through shared passion for the game.
