Arbeloa, a former Real Madrid and Spain defender, defended his players' effort but acknowledged the team took their chances better. He praised Palacios and Gonzalo Garcia's performances, noting Palacios' composure and Garcia's work rate. Fulham face Liverpool and Manchester United before the international break, with Arbeloa set to meet his former clubs. Only six teams have started a season with five straight defeats, and only two avoided relegation.

With three summer signings following him from Real Madrid - Palacios, Gonzalo Garcia, and Manuel Angel - Fulham will look to turn their form around. Palacios and Garcia started all three league games, while Shea Charles featured against Palace.
