Former Premier League striker Marcus Stewart confirmed he has lost use of his arms after a motor neurone disease diagnosis in September 2022. The 53‑year‑old, who starred for Ipswich, Sunderland and Bristol Rovers, continues to campaign for a cure while adapting to daily tasks with his wife Louise's help.

Stewart will lead the third annual March of the Day walk, kicking off in Liverpool and covering 350 miles to Leeds' Rob Burrow Centre. Guest walkers include Jill Scott, Emile Heskey and Paul Scholes, underscoring the event's growing profile. Co‑organiser Stephen Darby, also living with MND, joins Stewart to raise awareness.

Despite reliance on his right hand and occasional frustration, Stewart remains optimistic, saying he believes a treatment or cure will emerge soon. He stresses the walk's role in giving MND sufferers visibility and rallying support, concluding that his hope fuels the fight against the disease.
