Forest's start raises questions, but belief in Glasner remains

Nottingham Forest head to Ipswich in the bottom three of the Premier League, but boss Oliver Glasner believes they have deserved more this season. Internally, there is confidence Forest are still on the right track under Glasner, who has impressed with his methods and personality. He was brought in to take Forest to the next level after lifting the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League with Palace. Glasner is impatient to repeat that success and says owner Evangelos Marinakis is the only person he has met with more ambition than him. The 52-year-old has said he is not a magician and has already spoken to Marinakis about previous slow starts.

Glasner's consistency is starting to become clear, with a preferred line-up taking shape. Neco Williams, Matz Sels, Dan Ndoye, Murillo and James McAtee have started every league game. Club captain Ryan Yates is yet to play a minute, and Ibrahim Sangare has managed just one start despite signing a new three-year contract in the summer. Given the results, some will feel players deserve more minutes, and the squad is aware of the growing pressure.

Defender Murillo said after the 1-0 defeat by Arsenal: "We have a good manager and I think we are still getting his ideas. We changed everything in our system this season. It is difficult, but after three or four months we keep improving and I think we are close to reaching our best."

The problem remains goals. Forest have not scored in the Premier League at the City Ground this season and have won just two of 17 home league games since November. They have scored five times overall but carry a -6.20 xG, the worst in the division. Against Arsenal they had 14 shots but only two on target. Glasner said: "Every team in the Premier League has the quality to come back into a game to score a goal."
