Forest Green Rovers defender Jili Buyabu delivered his own baby just hours before returning to training for the club's promotion campaign. The 22-year-old stepped in when his wife went into labor in the early hours of Thursday morning, unable to reach the hospital in time.

Robbie Savage, Forest Green's manager, revealed Buyabu called him twice in 24 hours - first about a false alarm, then at 6:50 AM to announce he had delivered their child. Paramedics confirmed the delivery when they arrived. Savage expressed immense pride in his young defender's composure during the unexpected home birth.

Buyabu, on loan from Sheffield United this season, is expected to start Saturday's match against Aldershot as Forest Green pushes for promotion from fifth place in the National League. Mother, baby, and defender are all doing well, with Buyabu getting one day off before rejoining his teammates.
