Ferdinand vs Carragher: Old rivals reignite bitter Twitter spat

Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher's bitter rivalry resurfaced ahead of Manchester United's clash with Liverpool this weekend. Ferdinand posted an old photo on Twitter showing United celebrating Mikael Silvestre's winner in September 2004, with a dejected Carragher visible in the background, captioning it "caption this" - Ferdinand's first game back after an eight-month ban for missing a drugs test. Carragher replied sharply, criticizing Ferdinand for always positioning himself in goal celebration photos and mocking his current media work.

Ferdinand responded on his YouTube channel, expressing surprise at Carragher's harsh reaction. He pointed out he had scored twice against Liverpool in 2006 but chose to share a team celebration instead. Ferdinand also referenced their England days, reminding Carragher he used to carry his wash bag and boots. His comment about "spitting his dummy out" appeared to allude to Carragher's 2018 incident where he spat at a woman from his car, which led to his suspension from Sky Sports.

Manchester United beat Liverpool 3-2 at Old Trafford on Sunday. "He's going to be even more upset now, isn't he?" Ferdinand added after the match. "They've just been beaten. But this game affects people's emotions and makes people react differently."
