Falkirk have secured 18‑year‑old winger Paul McGovern from Glenavon on a three‑year deal for an undisclosed fee. The Lurgan Blues’ top scorer last season, McGovern hit eight times in the Irish Premiership despite the club’s drop to the Championship for the first time since 2005. He began at Newry City and has featured for Northern Ireland at U19 level.

Falkirk finished sixth in the Scottish Premiership in their first season back and reached the Scottish Cup semi‑final, bowing out to Dunfermline. Manager John McGlynn, a PFA Manager of the Year nominee, praised McGovern’s versatility, noting he can operate across the front line and possesses “huge potential.” The club, having tracked the teenager, outbid several English and Scottish sides recently to seal the deal.

McGovern arrives as Falkirk’s third summer signing, joining two other newcomers as the Bairns look to improve on their solid top‑flight performance. McGlynn expects the winger to add depth and firepower, while McGovern says the club’s track record of developing young talent matches his ambition. The addition significantly strengthens Falkirk’s attacking options for the upcoming campaign.
