Celtic's Transfer Struggles Revealed

Celtic's chief executive, Michael Nicholson, has revealed the club's difficulties in the transfer market, citing struggles to compete with English Championship clubs and the complexities of dealing with agents. The Scottish Premiership champions have made only one signing, Colombian forward Camilo Duran, this summer, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain extending his stay. Former manager Brendan Rodgers had previously expressed frustration over a lack of additions, a sentiment echoed by supporters.

At the Association of Irish Celtic Supporters Clubs meeting, Nicholson explained the challenges, stating that competing with the Premier League and even the Championship makes recruitment difficult. He also noted the club's efforts to sign out-of-contract players and a strategic focus on younger talent with greater drive and ambition.

Celtic's long-term strategy, according to Nicholson, is to be the best club in Scotland, financially sound, and competitive in Europe. The team has had mixed results in pre-season friendlies and is preparing for their competitive start against Dundee on August 3rd.
