Brighton have completed the signing of Portuguese defender Costinha from Olympiacos on a five-year contract. The £11m right-back moved to the Seagulls after spending two seasons in Greece, having previously played for Portuguese club Rio Ave where he made 121 first-team appearances.

Costinha developed through Portuguese youth academies before joining Rio Ave in 2017. At Olympiacos, he made 74 appearances and scored 12 goals across two seasons. The 26-year-old earned one cap for Portugal's U21 team in 2022 and brings significant European experience to Brighton's defensive options.

Head coach Fabian Hurzeler praised Costinha's defensive capabilities and intensity, noting he has been tracked closely by the club. The new signing adds competition at right-back and provides depth in Brighton's backline, strengthening their squad for the upcoming season.
