Craig Bellamy will stay on as Wales head coach following the breakdown of his proposed move to Burnley, according to Football Association of Wales chief executive Noel Mooney. The 46-year-old was in advanced talks with the Championship club before the deal fell through on Thursday, prompting questions about his future in charge of the national team.

Mooney emphasized Bellamy's achievements, pointing to the successful Nations League campaign that saw Wales promoted from League B to League A. The focus now shifts to upcoming matches against Portugal, Denmark and Norway this autumn. Bellamy took the Wales job in 2022 and has his contract running through to Euro 2028.

Former Wales international Iwan Roberts suggested Bellamy had 'burned bridges' with the Burnley negotiations, raising doubts about his commitment to the national team. However, Mooney dismissed these concerns, stating Bellamy remains 'absolutely committed' to Wales and their future plans.

The FAW's public backing signals confidence in Bellamy despite recent speculation. Wales missed out on World Cup qualification through the playoff defeat on penalties, making the Nations League campaign critical for maintaining momentum ahead of European Championship preparations.
